Readers – a face accessory that is under-appreciated and overlooked

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

A great pair of reading glasses can not only make an outfit, but they can help you avoid eye strain.

It happens in the blink of an eye. One day you can read the fine print, then all of a sudden you can’t. I first realized I needed readers while dining out with my girlfriends. The low lighting, just right for an evening dinner with friends, was not ideal when I needed to read the menu. I tried using my phone's flashlight, but depending on where you are, it can be really obnoxious and eventually you need to see more than a menu. Rather than be frustrated, I met the challenge by buying a pair of grocery store readers – Foster Grants. I'm thinking, ok, this is happening. They seemed to do the trick for a while, but they weren’t particularly attractive and I was a bit embarrassed to pull them out when I needed them. I later found out that while they work to read a menu or the fine print on a receipt, they aren’t great for reading a book or magazine as the lenses are cheap plastic.

After a little research, I found Eye Bobs. Although the price point was a little high, they run $90-$125, it was worth the investment. Not only are they useful, but they’re stylish too. What I like most about them is the frame is lightweight and they come in lots of colors and styles to fit or complement every face. I can read for long periods without getting a headache which is another bonus.

I thought for sure I’d found the perfect pair to last me a while until my sister turned me on to Caddis. They are less expensive, but are more modern in their look and feel. Both my sister and I bought the Bixby with blue light lenses, which are great for working on the computer. Every pair of Caddis Readers comes with a blue light lens which is important when we are on our phones, PCs, ipads, etc. Now I have readers to meet different needs, something I never would’ve thought to do before. It just makes my life easier.

Long story short, investing in reading glasses, if your eyesight is not what it used to be, is a good thing. Readers only help you put things into perspective, but they are a great accessory. If you haven’t tried either brand, I highly recommend both. You’ll never buy another drug store brand again.

If you have a favorite pair of readers, we’d love to hear about them. Share your story so other women can realize the benefits.#mosslife, #readers,#caddis,#eyebobs, #agepositive
