It's all about the denim

Top 5 denim picks. Finding the right pair of jeans can be a process, but if you start with these forgiving brands, you're as good as gold.

Denim is as much a wardrobe staple for both me and my sister, as is the white button-down, long-sleeve tees, and cashmere. Living in New England and the Pacific Northwest, you learn to layer. Jeans however are the foundation of our daily uniforms. Sure we swap in other pieces like blouses, fitted tops, and jackets, but it all starts with that perfect pair of denim. A good pair of jeans can make all the difference in how you look and your attitude. They can make you feel confident, sometimes sexy or just downright comfortable. Although we're twins, we have different body types. I'm average height (5'4), have short, athletic legs and a good size Latina behind, while my twin, on the other hand, has great legs and slim physique. We've searched high and low for the perfect pair of jeans that are both slimming and modern while having the right amount of stretch and shape. Here are our top jeans by category for this spring season.

Art of the Skinny.

AG. Farrah Skinny Ankle High-rise Waist and the Prima Cigarette Leg - according to Stephanie, "these jeans are super comfortable, they're stylish without being trendy, they wear well and don't fade. I've had several pairs for years and they still look new. I definitely think they are worth the investment".

Citizens of Humanity. If you're looking for jeans that have great stretch and hold everything in, the Harlow High Waist Slim Jeans might be for you. They are finished on the front and have a raw hem on the back. Love these!

Madewell. What I love about these is the 10-inch high waist and the severe straight leg. If you are looking for a pair of jeans that holds you in and can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with sneakers, these 10-inch high rise skinnys might do the trick.

I can't stop talking about my boyfriends.

AG. These jeans are one of my all-time favorites. They are so comfortable, lightweight and slimming. I loved the Ex Boyfriend Crop so much I bought two pairs.

Who doesn't love a good boot?

J.Crew. This season's J.Crew jeans are incredibly comfortable. Until this year, I have to say, I wasn't a fan. Their jeans were too stiff and unforgiving. This year the denim is stretchy, light and very comfortable. They have a little flare at the ankle which I love to wear with heels or sneaks. If you are in the market for a pair of good boot crop white jeans, the Billie Demi Boot Crop might be just what you're looking for.

There are so many new brands popping up every day. As my sister is known for saying, "there is always something new to buy", but when you find what works, you keep going back. For now, these are our go-to denim options.
